Black History Month - "Reclaiming Narratives"

1st October 2024 – Today marks the start of Black History Month, a time to reflect on the invaluable contributions of Black individuals to our communities, including in the world of football. Cornwall FA is proud to celebrate this important month with a series of events and initiatives aimed at promoting inclusion and diversity across our football community.

Black History Month is an opportunity for all of us to shine a light on the significant achievements and contributions of Black individuals, particularly those whose stories have been historically overlooked or misrepresented. This year’s theme, “Reclaiming Narratives,” is about recognising and correcting those narratives, ensuring the full breadth of Black history and culture is acknowledged and appreciated.

At Cornwall FA, we’re committed to using this time to raise awareness, foster inclusivity, and inspire positive change in our football community.

Upcoming Webinar

As part of our celebration of Black History Month, Cornwall FA and Devon FA are hosting an online webinar on Tuesday, 22nd October from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. This event is open to all football coaches, volunteers, players, and anyone involved in the game across Cornwall and Devon.

The webinar will provide valuable insights into the contributions of Black individuals in football and offer practical advice on how to create more inclusive and informed football communities. Coaches will benefit from discussing opportunities for personal and professional growth, learning about the impact of diversity on the sport, and networking with like-minded individuals who are passionate about inclusion.
